Developer-led design, development, and technical partnership built around people who stay close to the work

Techquity is a developer-led design and development studio. We combine ecommerce, websites and software with integrations, search, retention and support, shaping the right mix around the business rather than a standard package.

Senior people stay close from the brief through delivery. That means clearer decisions, fewer hand-offs, and the confidence to challenge assumptions before they become expensive problems.

Our Mission
  1. Trusted with difficult.

  2. Question the easy.

  3. Be honest.

  4. Build what works.

  5. Protect the client.

  6. Stay in the trenches.

  7. Hard not impossible.

  8. Solve the real problem.

  9. Back the team.

  10. Do it properly.

How We’re Built

People who understand the work, from first conversation to long-term support.

Technical leadership is part of the work, not a layer above it

Technical leadership is part of the work, not a layer above it

Techquity was founded by developers, and that still shapes how the studio works. The people helping define the brief understand what delivery will involve, where the risks sit, and when a simpler answer is the better one.

Being developer-led is not about making every conversation more technical. It is about making decisions clearer before weak assumptions turn into expensive delivery problems.

Design, engineering, search, retention, and delivery work better together

Design, engineering, search, retention, and delivery work better together

Real projects rarely stay inside one discipline. A design decision can affect performance. A migration can create search risk. An integration can change the customer experience and the internal workflow at the same time.

Our designers, developers, marketers, and delivery team work as one studio, so those overlaps stay visible. The point is not to make every project bigger. It is to make the work more coherent.

We would rather know a smaller number of clients properly

We would rather know a smaller number of clients properly

We are not built around pushing as many projects as possible through the studio. We want enough context to challenge a decision, understand why a change matters, and see what happens after launch.

That is why long-term support is part of the model rather than an afterthought. The relationship should become more useful as the team learns the business, not restart every time a new priority appears.

Our Process
  1. Stage 01

    Meet the team

Introduction to the assigned project team, here for you every step of the way.

  2. Stage 02

    Discovery

Understand the project requirements, goals, and objectives. This is the research phase where the team gathers all necessary information from stakeholders.

  3. Stage 03

    Design

Craft a blueprint or prototype that reflects the client's vision, taking into consideration the user experience and overall functionality.

  4. Stage 04

    Design sign off

Get formal approval from stakeholders to move forward with the approved design.

  5. Stage 05

    Build & develop

Start building the product or system based on the signed-off design. This is the coding or construction phase.

  6. Stage 06

    Testing & snagging

Ensure that everything works as expected. Identify and fix any issues before the product is released.

  7. Stage 07

    Go live

Launch the project or system to its intended audience, making it publicly available or deployed to its final environment.

  8. Stage 08

    Ongoing support

Provide continued support and maintenance to ensure the system or project remains operational and up-to-date.

Our Story

From tech for equity to a broader design and delivery studio.

Techquity started with a tech-for-equity model: acting as the technical partner for early-stage businesses and building the products they needed in return for equity. Rather than working as a distant contractor, the team supplied technical capability that those businesses did not yet have in-house and shared in the long-term outcome.

Coursebox and miPerform were among those early projects. They brought the model to life in different ways—working alongside the people who understood the problem, shaping each product around real operational needs, and building a foundation the business could keep developing.

As the studio grew, ecommerce and bespoke software became a larger part of the work, drawing on experience that includes founding and scaling Visualsoft and later creating Aero Commerce. Techquity is now a multidisciplinary team based in Middlesbrough, but the original principle remains: stay close, understand the business, and build technology with a reason to exist.
