Ramsdens
We partnered with Ramsdens Jewellery on a long-term ecommerce programme built around platform flexibility, systems integration, and continued online growth. The work moved the business beyond standard ecommerce platform limits while protecting search visibility and creating a more capable foundation for trading, content, and operational efficiency.
Ramsdens Jewellery operates in the jewellery retail sector, where ecommerce is a critical driver of both revenue and customer engagement. The business manages multiple physical stores alongside a digital presence, and that means the platform has to work as part of a wider operational system rather than as an isolated storefront.
Their online offer depends on seamless integration between the customer-facing experience and the internal systems that handle stock, customer data, and day-to-day operations. That is exactly the kind of ecommerce agency work where the trading model and the technical model need to fit each other properly. We have partnered with Ramsdens for over five years and, across that wider relationship, have built five sites while helping support continuous year-on-year online revenue growth.
Ramsdens had outgrown standard, out-of-the-box ecommerce platforms, which limited what they could build and slowed innovation. The next platform needed to support more complex delivery, tighter systems integration, and a more flexible route for replatforming and migration work that could continue improving over time.
We began by supporting an SEO migration to preserve existing traffic and search visibility so the platform work could move forward on a stable foundation. That migration work protected business performance during the transition and meant Ramsdens could move into a fully bespoke setup without sacrificing the commercial momentum already built online.
Over the course of the partnership, we built and implemented more than 100 modules designed around Ramsdens’ specific business processes and customer journey. These included integrations with multiple payment providers, a bespoke Layby system, and a complex Fuse payment provider integration.
To strengthen omnichannel trading, we also developed an advanced click-and-collect system fully integrated with store locations and internal systems. Customers can check product availability and choose convenient collection points, while the business benefits from more accurate store-linked information, more streamlined operations, and a stronger connection between the digital experience and in-store activity. The result is a platform that behaves more like a tailored trading system than a standard off-the-shelf storefront.
The platform was also shaped around conversion and customer experience improvements. We implemented a predictive search engine using AI-driven recommendations and search data, alongside custom filtering tools and improved sliders that made browsing clearer and more commercially effective.
To increase average order value, we developed bespoke personalisation modules and basket optimisation features that adapt to customer behaviour and surface more relevant product suggestions and promotions. At the same time, we built tools that allow Ramsdens’ marketing and merchandising teams to create more complex pages and campaigns independently, reducing reliance on development resource and giving the internal team more control over content and customer engagement. That kind of internal capability matters in a longer-term ongoing support relationship because the business can move faster without every improvement turning into a bottleneck.
The website supports rich multimedia content, including video, and is backed by optimised caching systems that help maintain fast load times and high reliability during heavier trading periods. That performance work supports the customer experience directly, while also giving the business a stronger base for campaigns and continued optimisation.
A major part of the success here is the working relationship itself. Direct communication with our development team has enabled rapid problem-solving, faster implementation of ideas, and an ongoing cycle of testing, optimisation, and feature development. By consolidating multiple websites onto a single bespoke platform and integrating deeply with internal systems, Ramsdens has gained a flexible ecommerce ecosystem that supports smoother operations, stronger customer journeys, and consistent year-on-year online revenue growth.
